Buying used shouldn't feel like gambling. Before any car gets the NL badge, it goes through the same three-part standard.

Every vehicle at NL Cars is carefully selected before it reaches our showroom. We focus on quality vehicles with a sound history and condition that we are comfortable putting our name behind.

Being pre-owned, a vehicle may naturally have small dents, stone chips or scratches. Where needed, we professionally attend to these cosmetic imperfections (including paintwork) so the vehicle is properly prepared and presented at its best.

For us, it is not about finding a used car that has never had a mark. It is about selecting the right cars, preparing them properly, and being confident in what we sell.

Road ready from day one

Before a vehicle reaches our showroom, we pay attention to the things that matter from the very first drive. Tyres are checked for condition and safety, and the battery is tested to make sure it performs as it should. If either needs attention, we sort it out before delivery.

Our aim is simple: when you collect your car from NL Cars, you should be able to enjoy it, not immediately start worrying about avoidable expenses.

Every vehicle goes through a thorough inspection before delivery, with the important mechanical and safety items carefully checked. We review its service history and, where a service is due or required, we take care of it. Any necessary work identified during our preparation is attended to before you collect your vehicle.

The goal is simple: you drive away from NL Cars with confidence, knowing your new car has been properly checked, prepared and is ready to be enjoyed. Because it may be pre-owned, but to you, it's your new car.

The smartest money in motoring

A three-month-old car with 10 000 km on the clock is on average a quarter cheaper than the same car new. Somebody else paid for the first drive off the showroom floor. You get the car.

The catch is that buying used can carry risk, and that's where we come in. We care about our customers and we value our name, so every car is carefully selected, checked and properly prepared before you take delivery. You stand a far better chance with us. Put shortly, we don't sell skorokoros.

Doing things right since 2017

Nicolas Lizen was born in Evrehailles, a small village in Belgium, and studied in the United States, where he met Sheila Branco from Newcastle. In 2017 he opened NL Cars on Ayliff Street with a simple conviction:

Most dealers just move metal. Buyers deserve better.

Nine years later the ethos hasn't changed. Every car is prepared as if Nicolas were buying it himself, and every customer gets the same treatment whether they're shopping for a Corolla or a Bentley. Because we are for everyone.

Most dealers move cars and add a margin, and a few hide what's wrong with the car they're selling you. That creates a trust problem for everybody, including the honest dealers. NL Cars does the opposite: fix what's wrong before it's sold, say what you know, and treat a R70 000 car with the same care as a R700 000 one. It is why you'll see the same faces on the floor year after year, and why most of the people who buy here were sent by somebody who bought here before.
